THE SOUL OF THE COMMUNITY DEDICATED TO LEGACY
When you hold an Ananas tile, you’re not just holding a product—you’re holding the story of families, community, and generations dedicated to their craft.
Every tile is a hand-artisan heirloom, each individual, beautifully unique, a testament to the artistry and soul of its maker, ready to be cherished for generations to come.
A CRAFTING HIERLOOMS THAT SPANS TIME
To say Ananas tiles are handmade doesn’t do them justice. These tiles are the embodiment of a time-honored tradition, passed down through generations in Michoacán, Mexico—a legacy where craft is woven into the very fabric of family life.
Fathers teach sons, and mothers guide daughters, ensuring that the artistry and secrets of tile-making remain alive, cherished, and respected.
The journey of an Ananas tile begins deep in the earth, where four distinct types of clay, unique to the Michoacán region, are carefully mined. This isn’t just any clay; it is a blend found nowhere else in the world.
Each variety brings something essential to the process—texture, strength, and resilience—and it’s the precise combination of these clays that forms the foundation of the tile's distinct beauty and durability.
Once mined, the clay is hand-kneaded, slowly and meticulously worked to combine the different clays into a smooth, pliable form. It’s a process that takes patience, strength, and experience, and one that has been perfected over generations.
The clay is then hand-molded using traditional techniques passed down for centuries, with each mold carrying its own history, unique imperfections, and soul. No machine can replicate the subtlety and nuance that human hands impart.
